American Chestnuts

The Return of Chestnuts!!!

The Baltimore County Forestry Board, in coordination with the American Chestnut Foundation, plants American Chestnuts and hybrids in various locations throughout the state with seeds supplied by the American Chestnut Foundation grown at the State nursery, and distributed to participating Forestry Boards. 

  • Seedlings are planted in group of 50
  • Growth data is collected on a yearly basis

Note: The Maryland Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation includes members from Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C.
